What drew you to the world of production?

Growing up in the 90’s and 2000’s, I’ve always been surrounded by some form of electronic media; which was drastically evolving with me. No matter where I was, I’ve always found myself sharing the same interests in cartoons, games, T.V shows, and movies with my friends. From there, I was drawn into multiple amazing worlds and stories that always had something positive to teach me in the end. Some lessons were about being OK with yourself and not having to accept expectations about who you need to be to strive for something else better (Mulan), the right friends will always support you (Harry Potter), family will always be there for you (The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air), an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind (Fullmetal Alchemist) and much more! I want to become part of that process and create something positive and amazing. At first, I wanted to do voice acting and become another character that people would look up to, but with time I learned the value of the unsung heroes behind those projects and that every great picture needs equally great sound!

What inspires you creatively?

Seeing other works of art having a positive impact on the community and becoming a classic is what drives me to push and join the creative process. I want to learn how to achieve that level of skill not only to amaze whoever watches it, but to also support and uplift the rest of my team in quality and morale. I love the feeling when everything finally “clicks” together in a project and working like-minded individuals striving for the same goal is an amazing place to be in time and time again.

What are you hoping to gain from your internship experience with Portal A?

What I’m hoping to get out of this internship is the skills needed to propel myself further into this career field. Here, I want to learn how to become part of a team in post-production, how production work is handled through each stage of the project, hands on experience on sound editing, projects I can proudly say I had a hand in,  develop my networking skills, and hopefully have a clearer path moving forward.

What are some of your career goals in the world of production?

I want to be a part of any team ready to make the next best game, movie, show, or animation. I want to get to the point in my career where i’m confident enough in my sound skills to say “Yea, I can get that done/Let’s do it!” To be in a place that can give me constant work to continue growing my skills, but to also have great team members ready to support me is my dream place to be at. Overall, my goal is to be another friendly face to work with and to provide support/relief any way I can in the process of production.
