HIRING: Creative Lead


We are looking for a Creative Lead to join our team and make magical internet content with us. Is it you?

Portal A is an award-winning content company that creates breakthrough entertainment with the most influential brands, platforms, and creators in the world.

We partner with global brands and platforms like YouTube, Google, Lenovo, Target, Snapchat, Clorox, and many others alongside a new generation of talent to create content that rises above the noise.

We pride ourselves in taking on huge challenges – from internet culture-defining projects to feature documentaries to social content series – and our in-house team of creatives, strategists, talent leads, designers, producers, and project managers push one another to produce our best work with each new project.

We are looking for a Creative Lead to join our team. The right candidate is an expert in all things digital content, has a clear and distinct creative POV that they want to share with audiences, and has a deep well of experience working in branded content on multiple platforms. We are open to candidates seeking contract or full-time opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Creative Vision. Combine big, bold ideas with the needs of our brand clients across genre and platforms. Take ideas and turn them into practice, managing the creative process for key projects from start to finish. Push the Portal A creative brand forward by ideating around new formats and ways to partner with top talent. 
  • Leadership. Lead on pitches and projects. Set a tone and attitude for how we do creative work. Understand broader company goals and help guide our internal teams to those objectives. Uphold a vision for high quality creative as you collaborate with other departments. Support and guide fellow members of the creative team, imparting knowledge and experience to those who can learn from you. 
  • Strategic Thinking. Build concepts and ideas on top of a strategic foundation. Understand distribution and best practices across platforms. Prioritize strategic voices within the creative process. Bring new formats and trends into our work. 
  • Talent Collaboration. Work with our talent partners to build great creative that speaks to digital audiences. Bridge the gap between the voice and workflow of talent and our internal process. Keep up on the most influential personalities in our space.
  • Communication. Write with intention, clarity, and style for creative pitches, treatments, creative bibles, scripts, and more. Speak with authority and enthusiasm to share your ideas and perspective.
  • Composure. Represent Portal A in external meetings, calls with clients, on set, and while working with outside parties (talent, influencers, writers, directors). 
  • Adaptability. Possess a can-do spirit and eagerness to jump in on any step of the process. Help out peers with copywriting, brainstorm creative solutions to unexpected problems, and swing at curveballs. 
  • Representation. Seek out new voices and fresh POVs to enrich and expand upon our existing creative brand.
  • Decisiveness. Make creative decisions with conviction and clarity, especially under pressure. 

Experience & Capabilities

The right individual will have 5-6  years of experience working in content creation. Experience in digital marketing/advertising is a huge plus, in addition to:

  • You are a creative thinker with a unique point of view. You pitch ideas that are weird, unique, huge, and sometimes impossible. You can absorb a brief and strategic data, process it all, and come up with something high concept, smart, and inventive.
  • You’re a proven collaborator. You empathize with your colleagues and understand what they need for them to do their best work. You set a vision for yourself and a team to rally around.
  • You’re great on paper and in person. You’re a strong and capable writer. You communicate ideas and complex concepts with ease (and little jargon). You can pitch like a pro, lead a great meeting, and collaborate well with others.
  • You are competent and curious.  From the state of the industry to the tools you need to create exceptional work, you know your shit. But even with all that knowledge, you’re still always trying to discover new things to stay ahead of the curve.
  • You live and breathe internet culture. You can speak to shifts and trends in the world of social video. You’ve been the latest video, post, or meme before any of your friends. You understand how to tailor a single message for a variety of platforms and formats. 
  • You’re ready to build something. You get invested in your projects, workplace, and colleagues. You feel passionate about building a world-class team and business through impactful creative work.
