HIRING: Contract Producer (LA)


We are looking for a Producer to join our team and make breakthrough internet content – is it you?

Our team is looking to hire a Producer to lead produce a variety of projects on a contract basis, with the potential to grow into a full-time staff position.

Experience & Capabilities

The right individual will have 5+ years of experience as a producer, with distinct experience in nuts and bolts line producing and have:

  • Experience in producing content for digital platforms
  • Extreme attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and manage a variety of priorities simultaneously
  • Experience in communicating nuanced production matters to a range of stakeholders
  • A network of freelancers — cinematographers, production designers, editors, etc. — is a plus
  • Prior experience producing COVID-safe productions with detailed knowledge on standard COVID-safety protocols
  • Familiarity with various production budgeting softwares
  • General knowledge of post production workflow
  • Experience in post supervising and producing a plus

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Nuts and bolts line producing including hiring all crew, booking all vendors, scouting locations, permitting, arranging catering, etc. 
  • Building, managing, and actualizing production budgets
  • Managing crew timecards, invoices, deal memos, production credit cards, petty cash, cash advances, etc. 
  • Hiring and managing production teams (production managers, production coordinators, production assistants)
  • Keeping the production team on task, making sure we’re hitting deadlines
  • Working closely with the Director on script breakdowns, shot-lists, and storyboards
  • Managing the safety of the crew and cast by putting together COVID-safe productions with necessary CCO personnel, testing, and PPE
  • Setting up post production, including hiring post-production crew (editors, sound engineers, colorists, etc.), and on some projects, managing the post-production process
  • Working directly with Portal A’s team of Project Managers, Talent Producers, Creatives, Strategists, and Designers to meet and exceed project expectations and deliverables
  • Frequent reporting to the Head of Production, with checks to make sure the execution is high quality, on time, and under budget
